How do I make my machines "talk" to each other? Change the status so that HP Smart recognizes my computer and my printer to recognize the computer. to save to disk/thumb drive, or to use for work. That results to me having to go elsewhere to scan pictures, documents, etc. If I try to scan a document I can not save it to the computer as I get an error message to connect the printer to the computer. The printer prints on command from Word, Excel, etc. I have been unable to change the "status". When I do setup I get an error message that the printer status is unknown. When I use the HP Smart, it says to setup the printer. Instead I have HP Smart, which appears to have replaced the original control software that came with the printer. After upgrading to Windows 10 and having to install a Universal Driver to work with the printer, I lost the nice computer controls for scanning, printing, faxing, etc. I have a HP Color LaserJet CM1312nfi MFP (printer).
